SPEAK OUT
Brief – Provide a safe space for people who have experienced sexual assault to speak up and advise their friends and family how they can help.
Client – Self directed brief per university
May 2019
Using hand drawn illustrations as the
focal point, I created a series of posters highlighting some unsettling statistics regarding sexual assault. To support the poster series I created a booklet filled with information for places victims of sexual assault can access help and support. Along with information aimed at their friends and family suggesting the best ways to support them through this.
One year on from creating these posters, I look back at them and think of how I would approach the brief differently now. I am still happy with the hand drawn illustrations and the way they look on the brown paper. However I would re-evaluate the logo and type decisions, I do not think the logo is clear on the posters and could easily confuse an onlooker trying to read the poster text. With regards to the main text I would try pairing the hand drawn illustrations with a digital font this time and improving the layout and hierarchy of the text on the page.
