VISUALISING DATA
Brief – Create a design to support your dissertation

In my dissertation I discussed the importance of the graphic designer when visualising data, to tie in with the strong data and data visualisation themes throughout my final major project ‘Data Shadow’. To create the visuals for the booklet I split my dissertation up into six key sections (introduction, historical context, three case studies and a conclusion) and for each created a different data visualisation based on the content of the section. Some of these visualisations included the quantity and spread of punctuation used, the number of times the letter ‘A’ was used, and the number of characters in each word. The aim was to create something that looked interesting out of a piece of mundane information that nobody would typically take note of.
